In this podcast episode, Chris chats to Shiva Raja, Director of Product Management at HYCU, discussing the benefits of using Data Domain Virtual Edition (DDVE) with MFR (Managed File Replication) to store and replicate backup data within the HYCU platform.
DDVE is an efficient secondary data target, running as a software instance and based on the Data Domain physical appliance. HYCU customers can use DDVE as a backup target, storing up to 256TB of de-duplicated content per instance. In addition, MFR enables highly efficient cross-site data replication that translates into a range of use cases, including data mobility and dark site protection.
HYCU is one of a small group of backup vendors with access to DDBoost, the API that offloads processing from DDVE (or a physical appliance) by pre-processing data at the client end. The result is efficient network bandwidth utilisation and reduced computing demands on the DDVE appliance.
Shiva takes the conversation through each component, explaining why DDVE can be so valuable to customers in the HYCU ecosystem where the customer retains full control over backup data.
More information on HYCU and DDVE can be found on the HYCU Website here.
